AR Freedom Stories – Breaking the chains!

AR Freedom Stories highlights rarely told African-Canadian stories from the Canadian-American Underground Railroad era. These stories includes Harriet Tubman’s efforts to bring American slaves to freedom in Canada.

AR Freedom Stories: discover their stories by scanning images

The Harriet Tubman Institute conducts research on the global migration of African peoples. AR Freedom Stories is the results of the Harriet Tubman Insitute  partnership with the Augmented Reality Lab at York University in Toronto, as part of the “Breaking The Chains” project.

In order to discover the stories, teachers or parents has to download and print the flashcards (link) for IOS or Android mobile app. Then, they need to scan the flash cards while the camera is running. This will trigger the animations.
